About the Author

I have been a Sound City fan since using my first Sound City 120 back in 1974 and 1975. I've been playing bass guitar since July of 1966 when I bought a metal-flake copper Danelectro shorthorn bass for $35 and a Gretsch guitar amp for $75. It's amazing to think how far $100 went back then.
In 2002 I purchased a modified Sound City 120, which was when I also discovered the Plexi Palace Bulletin Board Service, an excellent resource for finding and discussing Sound City information. If you haven't already done so, I strongly urge you to visit, check it out, and become a member of the Plexi Palace.
Since finding the 1974 120, I've also owned a 1973 200 Plus and a 1974 Bass 150. I still have my 120 as well as two Sound City B140 4x12 cabs from 1973 and a Sound City B118V folded-horn bass cabinet with its original Vega 18. I also own several Hylight- and Biacrown-era Hiwatt amps and cabinets.

I have a B.S. in Electronics Engineering Technology from DeVry Institute of Technology (c1988) and an M.A. in English (Professional Writing and Rhetoric) from University of New Mexico (UNM, c2003). From 1991 until 1999 I worked as a technical writer for Cisco Systems in San Jose, CA, and I currently teach Technical and Professional Writing at UNM. And just in case you might give a rip, here is my current résumé. I also just started a blog, called "Open Mike," so check it out if you feel like it.

Thank you for visiting and I hope you enjoy this site!
